I think the correct statement of this problem is:
1. There's a mozilla problem: .mp3 media has no default app.
I was used to a previous .mp3 integration where .mp3 files would start
mpg123 and mpg123ctl. Apparently I forgot to test that integration when
we went to mozilla in the first place.
2. mpg123 in the infoagents locker is old and buggy.
When run by hand mpg123 works on my test manners.mp3 file, but didnt
work on the mp3 sample from a-cappella.com. I guess there's something
that is in newer mp3 files that old mpg123 does not like.
Perhaps the correct solution to this is to set a default app of
realplayer for mp3 content, and to remove mpg123 and mpg123ctl from
infoagents. (Though mpg123ctl was damned useful in its day, and worked
nicely when we had mp3 files in electronic reserves.)
