|Windows and DOS together (Wintel) represent about 90% of the total US
|market. Is there any market data backing up the claim that 80% of net users
|are running Windows? Has anyone actually done net client platform market
|research?

I don't have formal results but certainly the largest portion of our
customer base (which I believe is a reasonable statistical base for
the Internet as a whole outside of education) runs Windows. We
believe the number is closer to 90%.

|Personally, I think the Macintosh port is extremely important

I believe there's a Mac port in progress already; I recall recent
traffic on the topic. Win3.1 and Mac ports should be complementary
since both OS's have (or more importantly lack) roughly the same
capabilities -- make it work on one and most of the hard work is done
for the other.
