Well actually it was Seattle Computer Products and if you look at the CPM/86
source code and
the first incarnation of MSDOS there's no question about what it was based
on ... and for the record
CPM and CPM/86 had remarkably simimlar architectures.

Also the purchase of MSDOS occurred much later in the course of things. It
as initially a non-exclusive
license.

Finally CPM/86 was around before "MS-DOS" was released.

Some folks find the singular nature of truth overly burdensome and prefer
the poetic license afforded by fiction ...
