Well, Dave,
 If you want help setting up Linux, then I suggest that you try to get
specific with the particular problems you are having.
 I understand your frustration (I had some, too). But, if this thread
keeps up as is, it will just get kicked off this list. 


What kind of hardware to you have?  
I noticed that you have the 17" Gateway Monitor. I have it too, and it
worked fine with Metro-X and AcceleratedX. 

What kind of video card, etc.?
