Thanks, -l 0 does fix the problem, but I don't like the idea of using an
unencrypted channel. And a few years ago, at least, IMAP over SSL
required frequent re-entry of my password, because the connection kept
closing due to idleness. But I will check whether that is still the
case. In the meantime, I will probably continue to use the old solaris
machines.
Incidentally, if it's a server-side bug, why doesn't imtest fall over on
the solaris machines, too? (Perhaps it's simply a matter of imtest
version, and an earlier version might also work on a debathena machine?
I can't figure out how to determine the imtest version.)
