No. I don't think anyone ever tested /usr/athena/etc/lpd, so I'm
not at all surprised that it doesn't work. I don't know why it
doesn't work, but that's a completely different question.
I can only assume that you killed /usr/sbin/lpd before you started
/srvd/usr/athena/etc/lpd, right?
