Howdy,
I did try the fix above, and it got me out of the infinite loop, but
my machine isn't working yet. I can login, it seems (the pre-login
owl is 8.4, but the console claims 9.0.4 after login), but pretty
soon I get logged out again with the console claiming:
This system is in the middle of an update.
This is after, say, two minutes.
Is the new fix ready yet? I never saw any messages about it. (I'm not
on testers.)
(My machine again is slingshot.mit.edu.)
