Thanks. Brett has reported that when this happens, it's because
you're not in the passwd file. It also seems like one can reproduce
the problem fairly easy some of the time, but not always (for
instance, if your name is Greg Hudson it's consistently very
difficult). At this point, the question is "why aren't people in the
passwd file?", and I don't know of any way to easily tell after the
fact why that happened.
