OK. Presumably SGI has some suggestions, but off-the-cuff, I would
suggest the following:

        1) Relinking the kernel with the built-in debugger and seeing if
it drops to that after the failure

        2) Enabling process accounting and other sorts of continuous
diagnostic logging for evaluation after the machine
		hangs/crashes.

        3) Hooking up a serial console and seeing if you get data there.

Unfortunately all of these require advance preparation on the machines
in question. I get the impression there are some places where this problem
tends to happen frequently, so I'm probably not the best person to do these
things (aside from the fact that doing so constitutes "modifying
workstation configuration").

| You can check last and talk to the people who were using them last.
| They may report they were using frame, xmh, exmh (or something else).

It having been roughly 9:30am, there was no one about.
