I'm always interested in these issues of religion which
seem to drive people apart rather than together. Seems
to me to defeat the purpose... but what do I know?
To the point:
Is there some way you could you contribute effort to make
it more of what you'd want without seeming to negate what
your parents would do?
At face value, it sounds like what you and Heather want is
"more" than what your parents would do more so than
"different" from what your parents would do. Could you offer
to help make it a more orthodox seder in a way which wouldn't
put your parents off?
If you had to change *one* aspect of the way your parents
conduct the seder, what would it be? Does it have to be
"all at once or nothing" or could you and your parents both
move to some middle ground on the way to where you'd like
to be?
