Majoring in computer science doesn't quite mean that you wouldn't be useful to the DOD or DOE. You'd just be designing and programming the circuitry instead of the propulsion system. Futhermore, when you graduate, you get to choose whether to sell your soul to Microsoft, or IBM.... or Lotus... or ...
