so i always said that on principle i would never work for the military
or defense.
i have an interview with draper lab tomorrow for an internship through
eip.
i need a summer job. having a summer job that's actually in mech e is
kind of important. having a summer job that pays reasonably is really
important. being in the cambridge area is also important, since it's
probably the only place i can easily afford to live and also feel less
than completely alone. (going to work in california and living in a
random apartment where i don't know a single person, for example,
would be difficult. not to mention the rent issue.) working at
draper would provide all these things. finding all these things
elsewhere would take an awful lot of effort that is hard to put in
during a busy term.
so i guess if i somehow get this internship, i can say bye bye to
principles. :-/ it's not even working in private industry which
happens to be doing a project funded by the military...this is direct
defense work. i'm doing the wrong thing here and going ahead with it
anyway...
