I did make it sound like you have to go through suffering, didn't I?
What I meant was suffering is common in looking for a working
relationship, not that *each* relationship must involve suffering. I
meant to say most people have to go through a lot of pain before
finding something that works, that is, if they find something that
works.
It sounds like you lucked out. Congratulations. :)

Spock was my role model, too. So I'm a control freak. I think I have
the right to be in control of myself.

Trying to make one's feelings disappear isn't the answer. There's a
difference between not having feelings and not being ruled by them.
If I could believe I had a reasonable chance of ending up with a
working relationship without going through an emotional meatgrinder, I
would consider it. In my life, I have seen much evidence to suggest
this is rarely the case. Also, there's transaction 467 in this
meeting...
