xdvi.new was an EXPERIMENTAL version of xdvi. It should have only
been used by people who understand what it means to use an
experimental version, and who were on the list where it was being
discussed. In no event should the minicourses have been mentioning
it.
Also, why would waiting until the release help any? users who were
using xdvi.new would still lose when the name went away.
