Publicity is key for UMOC. If your local radio stations and newspapers will
help that is great. It become frustrating here when a social fraternity gets a
lot more publicity for one philanthropic event than APO does for continual
service, so if you can establish a relationship with a specific person at the
radio station or newspaper, than it can help a lot.
We have UMOC t-shirts made up, and we wear them to advertise, in addition to
the usual poster blitz.
We have people that dress up in these "ugly" masks and costumes that walk
around campus, and especially past the bar lines at night.
We have chalk parties. Everyone goes through the classroom buildings and
writes a small but readabel message in a top corner of the chalkboards in each
room, circles it, and writes save next to it. They usually last throiugh the
next day, it helps if you do this at night after the cleasning crews have
already gone through the building. We also decorate the sidewalks with bright
colored chalk.
We ask our profs if we can announce it at the beginning of class, most say yes.
We also try to have the local personalities nominated "campaign" for
themselves.
