Hey there, I have had the same situation, also installing from CD...
I have tried re-intalled many many times and I have got the same error, to
get around it I simply made my partitions from the DOS partition using FIPS
(Fdisk will work too) and then when I got to the the setup I just renamed
the partitions to Linux Native, Swap, etc. And it worked out alright..
