I finally tried installing RH4.0 tonight on my 486. Everything went fine
until the "install bootloader" stage... (sound familiar?) I'm doing a
straight cdrom install, no ftp, no scsi, no pcmcia...
I noticed in the archives that someone had used a bootdisk, mounted the
linux partition, set up lilo.conf themselves, and ran lilo to get the thing
to work. This sounds like a decent solution, but could anyone give me a
few detailed steps on how to go about this? What's a good bootdisk to use
(Slackware?), how to properly mount the drive, etc.?
For the record, 3.0.3 installed just fine for me... (But I'm rather
distraught after spending a fruitless 10 hours of trying to get RH4.0 to
work :-(
Thanks for any help you can give to a sorta-newbie....
