Help! The pppd from hell has captured my box!

All I was trying to do was set up my PPP connection.

I went into the modem configurator and entered the
phone number, login ID and password. Now when
I boot up, the pppd is activated during the boot
and starts dialing immediately. I can't stop it.
How do I put a stop to this -- short of reformatting
for Windows? :- 0 The system is unusable with
a pppd message flashing to the screen every 15
seconds or so. And I image some error log is
consuming my disk, right?

TIA,

Lance
