I have RH 4.0 installed with all the updates. I have a
local network between several systems and have a gateway
machine connected via modem. I just got an ISDN line and
I am testing it on one of the sub-net systems, not the gateway.
I will move it there when I am sure everything is O.K.. I can
get the ISDN modem to connect and a routing entry is set for
the ppp0 interface. However my default route for the machine
is not changed so I go out over the ISDN line. It still goes
over eth0 to the gateway machine. In /var/log/messages I get
the message "ppp not replacing existing default route to eth0
[198.199.231.177]". How can I override this? If I add the
route manually, it shows up when I display the routes. However,
I can not delete the old default route, I get the error
"SIOCDELRT: No such pprocess". Anybody know how I can go over
the ISDN line when it is up, and over the ethernet when the
ISDN is down?

Thanks,

Jim Bevier
