I'm aware of that.
You gave no hints on the differences between the figures, so I had
to guess. One thing that could cause this problem would be if the
pictures that didn't show up used fonts, and so ghostscript failed
to render them when xdvi called it to do so.

So the problem is somewhere else. Without more information (none of
us have seen this problem, that I am aware of) we aren't going to
be able to be much help. Can you create a sample document that
demonstrates the behaviour, and send it to us to examine?
