I am downloading 2.0.24 kernel sources and I want to make
sure I have the latest modules installed (if any).
[root@borg doc]# rpm -q modules
modules-2.0.0-4
[root@borg doc]#
[root@borg doc]# rpm -Uhv --force
/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS/kernel-modules-2.0.18-5.i386.rpm
kernel-modules
##################################################
Looks like it got installed. Let's see:
[root@borg doc]# rpm -q modules
modules-2.0.0-4
[vlad@borg doc]$ rpm -q kernel-modules
kernel-modules-2.0.18-5
[vlad@borg doc]$
So, why are there two modules packages with not consistent
names? Can anyone assure me that the latest modules (from
2.0.18-5 package) will be used when I re-compile kernel? And
why there's no readme docs with modules-2.0.18-5?
