David, I'll agree that courtesy alone says that whichever technician
has/had that one assigned to him/her should have sent you an email
response.  What happened is impossible to say; we don't know details
of when you sent your support request & how long you waited.  In 
fairness, you should probably send off a polite protest with details
to support/sales/whoever about the situation.

That said, finding the answer you say you had to dig around for on the
list is both common knowledge, _AND_ a prominent entry in the Installation
Guide.  Look in the index & you'll see "signal 11 during install" as 
an entry under -s-.  Flipping to that page you'll see an explanation,
possible causes, things to try, and other sites to check for additional
information & help.
