My guess is that since the SCA drives are typically not used in PCs, when
a drive model is discontinued, there's a limited market for it, and so you
see them showing up at places like onsale.com going for what seem to be
pretty good deals. I bought some Seagate ST15230W drives at onsale and
found the following. One was DOA (returned it for refund and bought
another the next day). They didn't include adaptors, so I had to find
them and paid maybe $20 each for them.
I don't know if its typical of SCA drives, or if the ST15230W is odd, but
the ST15230W has no built in termination...so I had to put a terminator on
the internal SCSI cable after the drive. The adaptor I got has both
68-pin and 50-pin interfaces, and I used the 50 since I had cables
available. I've got it in a P100 with 64mb and a NCR875J.
