a curious problem someone might be able to help with
ncr 815 controller pci version on redhat 4.2 running 2.0.30
processor is cyrix 686-150+ on a j656hxa m/b
video is currently a 4mb diamond s3-virge, but was a 4mb diamond stealth
video vram
with =<64Mb everything is seen
with >64MB scsi vanishes, any lilo line 'append mem= >64M' it vanishes or
isn't detected, unless I put it on the advantsys controller which came
with the hp4020i cd writer and even that seems to vanish on my other
motherboard - tyan (fairly recent < 2months)
basically any ideas or help ?
when i attempt a cdrom write, i usually get a dump at the end, from the
scsi of command sent/status bytes which don't seem to match
also the cd seems not to read too well
if someone needs specific values, i'll gladly try writing a cdrom again

I don't have a problem with dos/windows, except at work.
Oh well, can't have everything I suppose.
If the machine had had a CDROM, I had a RH boot disk handy :-)
