Jeroen,
The BusLogic has support for Linux from my understanding; Adaptec does not.
Their cards will work with Linux--I use a 1542CF with the 1542 image
supplied by Red Hat without a problem. RH4.0 offers only a beta image for
the Adatec 2940 (their web site has details). I think the situation is
still the same with RH4.2.
The 2940 will work wonderfully well with DOS/Windows 3.1/Windows95/NT and, I
assume, NetWare. Adaptec is the standard in that part of the computing world.
Between the two controllers, buy the one you want--it's you money.
Concerning your hard drive, I recently purchased a 3.2GB Quantum. It was
only $50 to $60 more than the 2.1GB; I would suggest the larger drive if
the price difference is similar.
If you find support for the Adaptec 2940, let me/us know (I'd like a quicker
card in my Linux pc).
HTH,
Michael
