If you're interested in quick online availability to a batch of Internet
reference files, you might try building your own TSR online reference hypertext
using the HyperRez program that Peter Scott uses for his popular HYTELNET
system.
This gives you TSR hot key access to any of a number of ASCII files that you put
into a base or hierarchical menu file. The "root" file is any file you name as
START.TXT. You then put explanatory labels/text and links to other files, in the
simple link format of <filename.ext>. E.g., if you wanted to put in a link to th
ASCII text of "Hitchiker's Guide." which is found in file HG.TXT, you would put
in a label and link such as:
4) Hitchiker's Guide to the Internet <HG.TXT>
When you pop up the START.TXT or linked menu screen, it's then just like in
HYTELNET...just point cursor at that link, and press the right cursor to display
it.
Shareware version of HYPERREZ with simple documentation is available by FTP in
quite a few sites. I've seen it, among other places, at ftp.unt.edu
(/library), hydra.uwo.ca (/libsoft), and wsmr-simtel20.army.mil
(/PS: <msdos.hypertext>).
Of course, there's no end to the handy specialized online reference hypertexts a
librarian might put together for his/her own use, and for patron use. Hmmm.
