I do not know that I have ever seen a posting of this nature on the new lists
list, but you might look into it. It is NEW-LISTS, a listserv list, running
on VM1.nodak.edu. The lists owner -- Marty Hoag -- is quite knowledgeable
and you might try contacting him directly.

Bill, what it proves is that some people have no sense of humor, and they view
things differently from you and me. I appreciate getting notices of all sorts
from many different sources, one of the reasons I read all my mail. Some
don't. If they have to pay separately for messages, as I understand some do,
I can see their alarm. If not, it seems to me they are putting on blinders
and using tunnel vision to see only what they want to, or feel they need to.
In future, it is well to not to "bother" those who are too busy to look around.

Bill, I for one, upon hearing of your resouce guide, forwarded it to a number
ofinterested colleagues who may not be on PACS-L. I sure don't know why
something
as useful as your guide would arouse annonyance, even if you were not a list
subscriber, as long as what you were doing was posting an announcement.
The National Agricultural Library, where I work, is not on the resource guide
yet because our catalog is not one available on Internet, but may one day
be. I think you did the agricultural community a great service, and think
the nasty response was totally uncalled-for. Pamela Mason, pmason@asrr.arsusda.

BIll:
I appreciated your ag guide and found it useful. I'm an
ophthalmologist and a newcomer to the internet and I found
your organization and instructions clear and understandable.
Keep up the good work!
