That's exciting news that there's an Internet-available French opac!
I'm over there now, and there are some people here who'll be very glad
to hear about this. I just tried it, and did get through using normal
telnet (without tn3270), but they seem to require a login and
password: just hitting <enter> at their <.> prompt doesn't seem to
work. It'll be fun telling friends at the Polytechnique that they're
on the Matrix (they've all read William Gibson and think we're a
little wierd). Please advise?

I can understand the French reluctance to accept William Gibson as
the icon of cyberspace. I've read The Neuromancer and his latest, but could
never understand the fascination with citing Gibson as the source
material for cyberculture, and always thought some of the more visionary
scientists like Vannevar Bush and his Memex were a more appropriate place to
point people when they asked.
