I think as often as settlers got an arrow (no coup if in the back),
they probably were attacked by those who followed the settlers, and
started the range wars and water rights wars, to get their hands on
land that had already proven valuable. Pretty much the same for an
army of "claim-jumpers" and the miners and prospectors.
