                                              Presents:
                         1999 ALA Midwinter Discussion Forum

                          REFLECTION ON PRACTICE: SETTING
                               THE LEARNING AGENDA FOR
                                       REFERENCE STAFF

                                 SUNDAY, JANUARY 31, 1999
                                        2:00PM - 4:00 PM
                        Philadelphia Convention Center - 103A and 103B

In today's busy libraries we often focus on technology as the impetus for
reference training programs when in fact technology may not be the problem and
training may not be the most appropriate remedy.

Join colleagues from academic and public libraries as we analyze what we mean
by technological change and reflect on reference service, our organizational
climates and individual styles to develop an effective and sustainable
learning agenda for individuals and libraries.

Introductory speaker and discussion facilitator will be:

                        KATHLEEN WEIBEL
                   Director of Staff Development
                        Chicago Public Library
