                                CLASS presents

                   Introductory Internet Training Workshops

CLASS (Cooperative Library Agency for Systems and Services), a
self-supporting public agency, announces introductory Internet access
workshops. CLASS' hands-on workshops provide the basic commands and
tools for the beginning user to successfully navigate the Internet.
The CLASS Introductory Internet Training Workshops will cover:

         o Electronic Mail
sending and receiving mail, electronic conferences, and
           electronic journals

         o File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
access to shareware and public domain software

         o Telnet (Remote Login)
providing access to library OPACS with over 300 catalogs
presently available and more being added constantly; many have
           full-text aspects

The workshops will cover basic UNIX commands and will discuss the
user-friendly interface provided by the CLASS Internet Access.

Workshop participants will receive "Crossing the Internet Threshold: An
Instructional Handbook" by Roy Tennant, John Ober, and Anne Lipow in
addition to CLASS Internet handouts and publications.

Morning and afternoon workshops will be held in Palo Alto, California
on October 2, 1992, and in Los Angeles, California on October 16, 1992.

Each workshop is limited to 10-12 attendees. Space for these workshops
is limited so sign up now!

Workshop locations and registration forms attached.

If you already know the Internet basics, watch for forthcoming CLASS
workshops for the Intermediate/Advanced Internet user.
