Information Services Coordinator

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Health Sciences Library
seeks experienced information services librarian to provide dynamic
leadership envisioning and implementing quality information services for
students, faculty, staff, others. Directs, mentors, evaluates staff  who
provides information services; oversees evaluation of client-centered
services; provides reference, consultations, referrals, instruction, and
other information services to users.

Health Sciences Library is consolidating three service desks into one
User Services Center. The library provides state-of-the-art health
information systems and services on and off-site. Serves schools of
Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health; 600-bed teaching
hospital; North Carolina AHEC - the statewide program for health
professional education. 60 FTE staff.  Annual budget $6 million.
Nationally recognized for leadership in outreach and education services.
Staff help HSL accomplish its mission by serving on groups and teams.
HSL supports participation in professional activities, research and
publication. Provides unique WWW presentation of electronic resources

Information Services Coordinator reports to User Services Department
Head and shares primary responsibility for coordination of department
activities as member of User Services Coordinating Council. Department
includes reference, circulation, reserves, educational media, teaching
labs, education programs: 29.5 FTE staff including 11.75 FTE
librarians/specialists, 1.0 FTE graduate assistants, 10 FTE support
staff, 300 student associate hours/week (7.8 FTE).  Most department
staff and staff from other library departments provide information
services.

Required: ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent information science degree.
Experience providing reference, searching electronic databases, and
using Internet protocols and applications. Demonstrated ability to work
effectively with library users and staff, individually and in teams.
Demonstrated ability to adapt and create services that are
client-focused and cost-effective. Experience directing and evaluating
staff. Commitment to serving information needs of health professionals,
faculty, students. Time management and problem solving skills. Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills. Desired: Demonstrated aptitude
for acquiring new skills. Three or more year's professional work
experience in health science library. Degree in health or life sciences
or work experience in health profession. Record of professional
involvement.

Salary and Benefits: Minimum salary $33,800, with three years relevant
experience. State benefits include annual and sick leave, competitive

TECHNOLOGY COORDINATOR:
The City of Peabody, MA, is seeking applications for the position of
Technology Coordinator for the Peabody Institute Library and its
two branches. This position is responsible for the maintenance of the
library's automation system; planning and developing hardware and software
resources including Internet technologies and the library's Web site;
resolving hardware and software problems; conducting staff training and
assisting in continuing education programs for public access use.
Additional responsibilities include management of the library's technical
services department and scheduled reference/information desk duties.
QUALIFICATIONS: MLS; demonstrated communication, supervisory and computer

DUTIES: The Office of Information Services (OIS) provides the
knowledge base which the National Institute of Standards and
Technology (NIST) scientific and technical research staff utilizes
to contribute to the creation of new knowledge, thereby fulfilling
NIST's mission of promoting U.S. economic growth by working with
industry to develop and supply technology, measurements, and
standards. In turn, OIS is also responsible for the editorial,
packaging, and dissemination processes of the newly created
knowledge which is the result of NIST research.

The incumbent will serve as Library Systems Administrator in the
Electronic Information and Publications Program (EIPP), within
EIPP's Technical Infrastructure Team and must posses knowledge of
library automation. The incumbent will work with the other OIS
component (i.e., the Research Library and Information Program (RLIP))
and the other EIPP Teams (i.e., the Editorial and Publishing Team,
and Electronic Product and Service Development Team), to provide
library services to NIST customers and automation services to RLIP
staff.

The major responsibilities include: ensuring the smooth operation of
the library's integrated library system(SIRSI); administration of the
library's UNIX server; maintenance and upgrades to all library
system components (e.g., circulation, cataloging, acquisitions,
etc.), both client and server. The candidate will also act as
liaison between EIPP and RLIP to determine library systems needs'
analysis and priorities, scheduling implementations, etc.


QUALITY RANKING FACTOR(S) (QRF): (Determines your ranking in comparison
with other applicants. CTAP & ICTAP applicants who score
90 or above according to the following Quality Ranking
Factors will be well-qualified and receive priority consideration.

For the ZA-II level:
