Position: Digital Libraries Team Librarian
Position Available: September 1, 1998
Job Description: The successful candidate will serve as a primary
member of the Digital Libraries Team and as a secondary member of the
Instructional Team. Digital Libraries Team duties include: Designing,
implementing, and maintaining a content-rich, well organized, web-based
gateway to the library's varied collections ranging from electronic
indexes and databases to locally created image collections.
Instructional Team responsibilities include: preparation of classroom
materials, classroom teaching, and evaluating student outputs. The
candidate will also serve as a liaison to one or more departments and
/or school(s). The position is a tenure-track position. Environment:

Qualifications: Required: ALA accredited MLS: experience in web
development and design tools including HTML, Perl, databases and web
tools; an ability to work in a complex team-based environment and with a
diverse user group; strong verbal and written skills; and knowledge of
library information technology. Preferred: Experience in an academic
library and knowledge of emerging trends in electronic and digital
libraries. Classroom teaching experience, familiarity with preparing
instructional materials and activities, and assessment experience.
Salary: $32,000/yr minimum
Fringe Benefits: A month's vacation time, sick leave, major medical

We are currently seeking an experienced Access Services Librarian to
join our Member Services Division.
The Access Services Librarian opportunity is located at our Dublin, Ohio
headquarters, a suburb of Columbus. As the corporate webmaster, this
motivated candidate will facilitate access to a full-range of
information resources for OCLC management and staff when and where they
work, around the clock, around the globe. Specifically, the candidate
will develop, promote, maintain and administer the corporate intranet to
provide access to OCLC products and services, external and internal
resources, and Information Center home page; assume editorial
responsibility for content, quality and style of Information Center web
site; ensure consistency of house style through graphical and interface
design. The position also requires administration of the corporate
information center's integrated local system database and the planning,
development, implementation and maintenance of electronic resources in
the OCLC Information Center.
This position requires an MLS degree (preferred) or equivalent
academic/experience combination. Additional degree in Computer Science
or equivalent academic/experience desired. 4-5 years experience with
library automation, including PC hardware, telecommunications, and
network and server configurations; working competency in HTML 3.0 or
higher, JavaScript, CGI, and MS FrontPage; familiarity with UNIX and NT
operating systems; experience in Microsoft OA environment. Knowledge of
WWW resources. Knowledge and use of OCLC Worldcat and the online
systems, including reference products/systems and MARC formats.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems and to communicate, both orally
and in writing, with all levels of users. Knowledge of cataloging and
serials control. Management of a local system required. Experience with
interface and graphical design.
