From my wife's recent experience with 35mm slides--> disk,
they are easy to digitize, but take up a huge amount of space,
numbering in MB. Also, some editing may be needed to lighten
up the image or otherwise make it easier to see.
I was amazed at how easy it was to "scan" the slide to disk, however.
