My favorite, and I may misspell the name since this is from memory, is the
story of the Union general at the Battle of Spotsylvania. He was standing
out in the open near the court house when one of his aids warned him that
he could be shot my a Confederate sharpshooter. General Sledgewick's last
words were, Why they couldn't hit an elephant at that dist...
