Meanwhile: a discussion between warlord, mib, and I brought up the
point that we can't distribute an encumbered AFS port to Linux (it
wasn't clear it limiting it to MIT would make it legally possible, but
it'd still be problematic). I think we'd better stick to NetBSD for
hopes of an AFS client.
If the issue is the GPL, there's a very easy way around that --- send
mail to Linus (the copyright holder), and ask permission for a
dispensation. Unlike rms, he's quite reasonable, and I'm sure he'd
grant one. I can drop Linus a line and ask him about it, if that's what
you're all worried about.....
