Well, I haven't had a lot of time to do a huge amount of research on
this one, but here two things which folks might find useful.

First of all, as far as I know, the kernel shipped with Red Hat 6.2 does
not have the latest NFS patches.  I don't know about Red Hat 7.0 (that's
where lack of time to do the research comes in; VA uses its own kernel).

Secondly, using NFS over a 2MB wireless connection, with a
linux-2.2.18pre15 kernel (not quite identical to the VA kernel, but
close), I wasn't able to see any problems during a brief test.
