So, I've realized that a few issues are getting dropped through
cracks. This is an attempt to list all the open issues preventing us
from going to Beta.
* Boot floppies
Karl is working on this.
* Testing
In general testing has been spotty. However, it seems that where the
Redhat installer works, our stuff mostly works.
* Network Device
For now, I'm tempted to leave the installer hard-coded at eth0 .
* Custom Installs
We need to decide what happens when you install a system without the
Athena Workstation packages. We could simply not support this option,
which will mean we have a very hacked comps file which will be
annoying for upgrades. Alternatively we could just move the core
packages and those that conflict with Redhat supplied packages into
the comps file.
* release-rpms
Currently we install a null release RPMs file. This works except that
if the user selected not to install some Athena package as part of a
custom install it will be installed at next update. Alternatively if
the release drops some package it will get left on the system.
Time permitting, we can try to fix this.
* Text Mode Install
Alex is currently working on adding an Athena option to this and
removing the Gnome/KDE options
* Graphics
We still need help with this.
* Hesiod
We need to decide what documentation/notes we need to add to the
system to ask people to get Hesiod.
I think that if we make reasonable progress we should be able to do a
limited Beta next week. I'll try and recruit people for the parts of
the project that are getting stuck.
