We have a server which has been running MacShares on NT, and which suffered
an unexplained (but nearly catastrophic) hardware failure this afternoon --
one of the disks was yanked out of the its bay somehow. This crashed the
machine, obviously, but there were several side effects.
First of all, the mouse is no longer working -- we've swapped mice, and
there is no response. Not a biggie at this point.
Secondly, the MacShare volume is "missing." It reads data on NT, and is
accessible by our NT users, but the Mac users cannot log in - the server
name shows on the network, but the volume is not available. It shows as
started and running on the box.
Lastly, CheckDisk has uncovered several errors of various types -- and has
supposedly repaired them. The machine is still hosed.
This is a RAID 5 (hardware RAID) machine running NT Server, most recent
release.
Any suggestions as to what we can do to get our users back with their data?
SOON?
Thank you.
