Hi,
I've received a query from one of our lab groups, regarding making a new
printer available to both PC's and Macs.
<<We've purchased a new printer in the GTL, an HP8000N, which will be set-up
on MITNet (an IP address and hostname have been acquired). Someone (Sanith?
Paul?) may have gotten in touch with you about this already. What we'd like
to do is to set it up so that it is available from our MITNet-capable Macs.
Do you maintain a system that acts as a hub for such printers or is there
another process we need to go through to get make the printer visible in
one of the AppleTalk zones available via MITNet?>>
I know that there is an option via the Control Panel/Network/ to select
Services for Macintosh on a WindowsNT Server, which bit of info I relayed
to him, although I fear that they may not have an NT Server machine set up
there.
Our Dept. HQ does not have an NT server which can serve as a printer hub -
actually we don't have any NT machines in HQ. Does IS ever provide such
service?
Any words of wisdom out there?
Phyllis
