I think it would be important to have at least one vegetarian
represented on the committee. If anyone is interested, apply
for a position as it says at the bottom.

Please forward to this to your interested constituents (they're the ones
who talk about ARAMARK food all the time) X-). Thanks!

As you are aware, ARAMRARK's contract to manage MIT Food Services is
up for renewal. The final decision on whether to renew or alter the
contract will be made in October. Consequently, we now have a unique
opportunity to improve food service at MIT.

To take advantage of it, a committee is being set up to study food
service at MIT, and suggest improvements. The improvements may be as
sweeping as the committee desires (e.g. whether ARMARK should stay,
and what should replace them). The committee will be a short term
group: they will analyze food service, report their recommendations,
and dissolve. If possible, the committee will complete its work
by the end of the school year.

Four undergraduates, two graduate students, and four faculty/staff
members will comprise the committee. Once assembled, the members will
select their own officers.  The committee itself will be independent;
it will not be under the auspices of the UA, DormCon, or any other
agency.

The UA is appointing undergraduates to the committee. To apply for a
seat, please send your name, any relevant experience, and why you
would like to serve on the committee to ua-comments@mit.edu. We hope
to assemble the committee by next Friday, so please apply as soon as
possible. Thank you.
