As a response to Laura's posting on "pate de fioe gras," I wrote a
quick letter to American Airlines. I'm including it below in case
anyone would like to edit it, print it, and mail it at a cost of $.32
and only about 5 minutes!

I used a good deal of cut-and-paste from the original message. Hope
it's useful!

Cheers,
Matt

Dear Ms. White:

I am writing to request that you remove "pate de foie gras" from the
American Airlines Duty Free catalog. Your description of this food as
a "noble product" and a "magic word that rings excellent and fine
gastronomy perpetuated through centuries" directly contradicts the
tortuous methods through which it is produced.

American Airlines has stated, "We absolutely agree that the inhumane
handling of any animal species is unacceptable." I encourage you to
move your duty free product offerings into alignment with this view,
and replace "pate de foie gras" with a truly elegant vegetarian pate.
I believe that strong business decisions, such as the banning of
smoking on commercial flights, speed public acceptance of progressive
social attitudes and customs.

Sincerely,

<you>
