Hi Steve -
Debathena cluster machines to a lot of cleanup on logout, and when
that cleanup fails, they'll reboot to try again. It's probable that the
behavior you're seeing is by design, but we've been getting a lot of
reports of cluster machines rebooting, so maybe our cleanup code isn't
as robust as it could be.

I'm working on a new version of the cleanup software that logs a little
more verbosely, as well as a new athinfo query to extract that log
remotely, so that we can try to figure out what's going wrong. It'll
take us a few days to get the code into the field. Let's say that if you
see a cluster machine reboot after logout after Monday, send us another
e-mail with the hostname of the machine where it happened.

As for the startup and shutdown logo, that's been on my list of things
to look at for a while. So that the rest of the developers and I don't
forget to look into it, I've opened ticket #145 in the Debathena Trac
(https://debathena.mit.edu:444/trac/ticket/145)

Thanks for the report,
 - Evan
