The transition from .gconf-debathena-ubuntu to .gconf-debathena-hardy
happened in May 2008 with the debathena-gconf2-config 1.3 release. That
release also had code that was supposed to do the migration automatically
by copying dotfile directories appropriately (installed as an xsession
script).
So, one possibility is that debathena-gconf2-config was for some reason at
version 1.2 before this update (which probably brought it to 1.4, which
was released about a month ago), and the transition code didn't work. We
could check whether this happened by looking at the lines related to
debathena-gconf2-config in /var/log/aptitude.
