Well, for now I would go ahead and do
mv .gconf-debathena-hardy .gconf-debathena-hardy-backup
cp -a .gconf-debathena-ubuntu .gconf-debathena-hardy
and then logout and login again. This should have the same end result as
if the migration code had worked correctly.
