My so-far-reliable reproduction recipe, very likely further refinable:
0) install a new machine at 9.4.11, running sshd (gorf in this case; no srvtab)
1) log in remotely as gu
2) "unlog; kdestroy"
3) "ls -la"; see the lossage
Note that renewing is not necessary, although renewing and trying to read
any file with missing attributes will result in an error.
