Following up on a previous thread:
On linux the backspace key now works, but ^U behaves oddly, erasing the
input but not clearing it from the display. For example if I type a few
characters, ^U and then type a few more:
Type your message now. End with control-D or a dot on a line by itself.

the recipient gets just "foo". Not sure if this is a change or I just
didn't notice it before.
On solaris, sawfish-capplet seems to be behaving now from gnomecc except
for the first choice (Sawfish window manager->Appearance) which still
hangs. Trying from the desktop, Customize->Appearance either does
nothing or pops up a sawfish configurator window which immediately
closes.
