I have an i586, and updating according to the directions Greg provided
fails when updating to verison 9.0. The error is as follows:
bash# update_ws 9.0
Beginning update from 8.4.24 to 9.0.0 at Mon Apr 16 01:39:13 EDT 2001.
rpmupdate: Can't read package file redhat-7.0-updates/RPMS/glibc-2.2-12.i586.rpm
*** The update has failed ***

Update complete; please reboot for changes to take effect.
Apparently, while glibc-2.2-12.i686.rpm and glibc-2.2-12.i386.rpm exist,
glibc-2.2-12.i586.rpm does not, and similarly for other RPMs.
