Hrm.  We haven't seen this in upgrades.  Dunno.  

The "stray numbers" are in fact epoch indications, and you do have to
strip them before feeding the file to rpm.

This is odd; if you updated all the packages in a single invocation
then you shouldn't see such problems.  Though without knowing more
exactly what you did, I can't say.

The former is odd.  Again, the exact history of your athena-ws and
athena-base packages are important here.  The latter message is
harmless and can be ignored.
