I do not know the exact implications of the NGROUPS issues because
it is no longer at the top of my head.

My initial message was because the code in verify.c was clearly wrong
#ifdef _IBMR@ vs _IBMR2.

What should the correct values be?

What I do know:

a) NGROUPS is defined as 32 on the DECstations. I believe it will try
to send 32 groups over the wire.
b) For an RS/6000 - NGROUPS by default is 32 - what I do not know is
how does the kernel handle the > 16 groups situation - does it reject them?

For your comments (DECstation to RS/6000 server), it would imply that
you want to shorten the groups on the DECstation - but I would test this
first.... (you would also have to change /bin/login).
